Nothing is cuter than a Highland calf.
We also raise Scottish Highland Beef Cattle at the Brown Family Farm. We have a "bonnie wee fold of the hairy coos"., producing fewer than a half dozen freezer ready animals per year. The meat from Highland cows is leaner and lower in cholesterol than any other beef breed. Highlanders are one of the oldest breeds, and producers of the finest quality beef. Farm raised, free range beef from cattle who are not closely confined in a tiny feedlot and overfed to produce an artificially rapid weight gain is vastly superior to anything available in the chain stores. Visit http://www.homestead.org for more information about these lovely and useful animals. And for another local source of quality, farm raised Highland Beef check out my friend and neighbor at Done Roving Farm and Carding Mill, here in Charlotte, Maine.
Truly a cow for all seasons!
